Do you have
any historical information on the company?
|
We were founded in 1973 by Jim Gende, Ray Pearson, Joe Gende, and Tom Spero when they converted 3 Little King franchise locations (Moline - 1969, Main Street - 1969, & Rock Island - 1970) to Hungry Hobo company stores. Over the next 16 years we opened 6 more company stores (Old Town - 1975, East Moline - 1977, Bettendorf - 1978, Milan - 1984, Browning Field - 1987, & Kennedy Square - 1989) and 4 franchise locations (Des Moines - 1978, Iowa City - 1980, Galesburg - 1981, & Marion - 1989) that are still in business today.
In 1991, Joe Gende passed away and Tom Spero
assumed his position as
President, CEO of the company.
In 1993, another franchise location in Iowa City was opened (Coralville).
In 2001, Ray Pearson retired and sold his share
of the company to Tom Spero
and Pryce T. Boeye, who assumed the position of Vice President, Marketing &
Retail Operations. In addition, Jim Gende retired and another company store
was opened (East Locust).
In 2003, another company store (Elmore) and
franchise location (Cedar
Rapids) were opened.
In 2004, Tom Spero retired and sold his share
of the company to Pryce T.
Boeye, who assumed the position of President, CEO, and another company store
was opened (West Locust) that replaced Five Points. BACK
